Use a ruler or a flexible measuring tape (such as a fabric or sewing tape) to measure from the start of the leather/fabric at the buckle end to the middle of the hole where the buckle is usually fastened.
Option 2: Measure your dog’s neck
Wrap a flexible measuring tape snugly around the widest part of your dog’s neck. If you don’t have one, you can use string or ribbon, then measure the length with a ruler or non-flexible tape.
The collar should fit tightly enough that it can’t slip over your dog’s head, but not so tight that it restricts breathing or causes discomfort. A good rule of thumb is to ensure you can comfortably fit two fingers (your index and middle fingers) between the collar and your dog’s neck.
